Org. Setting and Reporting

The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

The Latin America and the Caribbean Office located in Panama City works closely with the 33 countries of the region - including 16 small island developing States, with a population of about 588 million people. The office works to serve the needs of the region and its activities are integrated into the work programs approved by the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA).

In the framework of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Objectives (SDGs), UN Environment is starting a global project: “Coherent Implementation of the Environmental Dimension of Sustainable Development Goals”. The focus of this project will be on supporting member states, UN agencies, UN Country Teams, Regional UN Development Groups, Regional Economic Commissions, Regional Forums, UN Environment staff and other partners in implementing the environmental dimension of the SDGs. Focus will also be on enabling the use of environment sustainability as an entry point to support the balanced integration of the different dimensions of sustainable development. To do so, support will be given to the strengthening of governmental capacities to integrate environmental sustainability in the sectoral and cross-sectoral planning processes, among others.

The UN Environment/Latin America and the Caribbean Office/Regional Coordination for Development Unit's internship is for six (6) months. The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.
